March 18th 2023 – Brentford v Leicester will go down as one of the greatest days in Penguin’s history.
It was 5.5 years in the making and a dream come true for our amazing players with Down’s syndrome who had the wonderful experience of being Guard of Honour for Brentford FC. A record breaking Guard of Honour of 28 players welcomed the home team and visitors Leicester with flag waving and high fives more fitting of a World Cup than a Premiership game.
We all had to be at the GTech stadium for a rehearsal at 1pm and having to chaperone 28 kids and their parents went as smooth as silk and each and everyone of the kids behaved in a manor befitting the occasion.
Along with our Founder Allan Cockram, some of the kids were interviewed pitch-side by Stuart Wakeford, Head of Content for Brentford FC and before the game and Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa met all the Penguins prior to their warm up. The game finished in a 1-1 draw but the impact of the day will live in all their memories forever.
Thank you Brentford FC for making dreams come true and for having such a positive impact on our player’s lives that will run deeper and for longer than you can imagine.
